Kelly Rae Burns was born in Austin, Texas, in 1983. Received her BA in Studio Art from the University of Texas at Austin with a emphasis on Painting and Drawing. She has studied abroad in Italy and Australia. While in Australia she became deeply interested in the human spirit and it’s interaction within nature. She also attended Oxbow School of Art and Contemporary Arts Center Residency. Her main medium is gouache and graphite on a heavyweight watercolor paper. She adores drawing and the tactility of paper mixed with pigments. She currently lives in Houston, TX with her partner and their dog. At present she is attending a Masters program in Library and Information Sciences where she extends her fascination with archives and memory.
