I’m a bit of a late-comer to Chris Onstad’s Achewood-verse. I got turned on about six months ago with The Great Outdoor Fight and have been hooked to the weekly strip ever since. So the announcement of a new Achewood book made my mind boner perk up. (Clarification: few weeks back we decided that boners didn’t have to just be used to describe sexual arousal i.e. “The smell of that bar-b-que sandwich is giving me a stomach boner,” or “That new Macbook is giving me a technology boner”).

In a grand execution of the old adage, “Keep it simple, stupid” Onstad (a graphic designer himself) reveals nothing to the casual passerby and relies only on the devoted fans to get hyped on it. Well done, Chris.

Isabella Rosselini is back with season 2 of Green Porno, this time the focus is the sea. A little more sedate and dull than season 1, but still funny and informative.

We finally caught up to the 90’s and launched a Facebook page. To celebrate, NASA launched a shuttle off in our honor. Chase has some better pics here.

So I’m in the midst of sifting through submissions for issue #5 and this process has compelled me to go on a bit of a tirade about the business of writing good stories. Seems that some of you submitters out there have forgotten some fundamental principles of good storytelling so I thought it would be in both of our best interests if we took a little trip to Writing Day Camp.

Here is what you are about to say:
“Who the fuck is this guy telling me how to write good stories? I’m already a good writer. I drink and I smoke and I read Chuck Palahniuk. End of discussion. I’m a fuckin’ writer.”

Take it easy. I promise you will get something out of this. And if you don’t then, well, you can punch me in the arm at about 40 percent. No, 30 percent.

Also, I wanted to do a “list” kind of post cause apparently they’re really popular with internet nerds and I want to drive up my hits. Tryin’ to make dat internet money son!

I know this absolute gem came out almost a year ago, but I’m still kind of reeling over how dope it was. Buy it, check it out of your library, read the shit out of it two times, love it.

I don’t know if it’s bad sound or something but you kind of get the sense that the Google minions don’t really give a shit about having a Pulitzer Prize winner in their midst. This your boy KANE here. I started a new personal (read: shameless self-promotion) blog so I could keep the Annalemma blog clear for magazine business only. I’m gonna be posting a lot more here than I was on the old site now that it’s all about me, me, me.
